CANADA CUP
The Origin Story
The idea for the Canada Cup was first proposed in early 2019. One visionary sought to bring four friends together to play golf in Canada's entertainment capital, Niagara Falls, Ontario.
What started as a dream quickly turned into reality because the planning wasn't that hard.
So, on September 13, 2019, Sean, Chris, Steve, and Griff ventured across the northern boarder to play in a Ryder Cup Style team competition. Their spirits were high, the battle was fierce, and the golf was slightly below average.
After two days of do-or-die match play and two nights of sharing their hotel annex with beer league softball players who inexplicably brought their entire families, two victors emerged.
Their names will be etched in history, whenever Sean gets around to it, on the historic Canada Cup so generations can admire these valiant men and question the validity of Griff's handicap.

The 2020 Canada Cup featured twice as many competitors and made its first trip stateside. But the ending was still the same with Sean and Griff, along with newcomers Marc and Ted holding the trophy.
2021 again took place in New York, this time in Ellicottville. The same motley crew returned but with a new champion. Additionally, the teams inexplicably switch their reprehensive countries so technically, Team Canada goes 3-0. Ted is still confused as to why Ellicottville exists but it's safe to say he never forget his time at Balloons.

As we moved to 2022, the leadership at Canada Cup decided that the greatest golf tournament of the Great White North needed to be contested at a beach location. The group grew in numbers and headed south to Atlantic City for the 4th annual Canada Cup. They battled COVID and the craps table in one of the most memorable Canada Cup's to date. Surely the Boss would be proud. Canada again won to go 4-0 but the teams are now split at 2-2. You can thank Steve and his engraver for this confusion.

Our Fifth Anniversary was in 2023 and Canada Cup returned to its native country for the first time since the original. I don't remember the outcome of the matches but the chicken shawarma I ordered Friday night was a big hit. Shout out to Genesis for their sweet key change on Invisible Touch.

2024 is the 6th Games of the Canada Cup Olympiad and the Canada Cup flame will make it's way to historic Lake Placid, NY. This location was chosen in honor of the historic moment associated with this Adirondack village; the 1999 movie Lake Placid where a gigantic crocodile terrorizes a small town in Maine.
